Prague Castle and Hradčany

We are showing you some photographs of the Prague Castle with dominating towers of the Cathedral of Saint Vitus. You can watch also the Loretto Church – magnificent baroque building with famous bells. The Golden Lane from the 16th century formed by a row of little houses built-in the fortification wall is worthseeing as well.

Old Town

The Old City is one of the oldest inhabited areas in Prague with many important cultural sights. On the photos you can see the Charles Bridge, the Old Town Tower Bridge, the Municipal House, the Concert Hall Rudolphinum and of course streets illuminated with lanterns which are characteristic for this city district.

Old Town Square

The Old Town Square is the historical heart of Prague with a lot of beautiful buildings from all times. The Old Town Hall with the astronomical clock attracts thousands of people every day. You will find the Church of Our Lady in front of the Tyne and the baroque Saint Nicolas Church here.

Lesser Town

After the fire in 1541 the district Lesser Town was rebuilt in baroque style and so it is called the pearl of baroque architecture. On the photos you can see the Hill Petřín or the Island Kampa formed by an artificial canal called Čertovka constructed on account of local mills.

National Theatre

In this section you will find photos of the most important theatre scene in Prague, the building has been forming the dominant on the bank of the Vltava for centuries. Many Czech artists participated in the works on the internal and external decoration.

Vinohrady and Žižkov district

These two city districts originally formed only one municipality called Vinohrady (víno = wine, hrady = castles), so it means that the name is derived from vineyards founded by the King Charles IV. Both districts have been a part of the capital since 1922. On the photos you can see the TV transmitter in Žižkov, the National Monument on the Hill Vítkov with the equestrian statue of Hussite leader Jan Žižka and the Jewish cemetery in Žižkov.

Brevnov Monastery

The Břevnov Monastery founded in 993 was the first male monastery in Bohemia. The buildings come from 1708-1745 and are considered to be one of the top baroque works.

Vltava river

In this section we are offering a few views of the Vltava river and Prague bridges. On the photos you can see the Novotného footbridge, the place where ten water mills were situated many years ago.

Prague by night

You can hardly see anything more beautiful than Prague at night. On the photos you can see the illuminated Prague castle with the Cathedral and lanterns in alleys of old Prague.
